In Petite Nation, it's the ideal place to spend quality time with your family. Time and again, you'll have the pleasure of seeing your favorite little humans laughing out loud or gazing in wonder.
The magic starts at Parc Oméga in Montebello, where you'll have the chance to feed carrots to the elk, who love them. In addition to these immense cervids, you'll have the chance to observe wolves, arctic foxes, bison and more. Every experience is unique at Parc Oméga, I assure you.
After a busy day, a good meal is more than welcome. Why not try Zouk at Montebello. Children will love the menu, while adults will be delighted by the choice of food. Its log architecture is sure to impress.
You can spend the night at Camping Saint-André-Avellin, either in your own trailer or in ready-to-camp units just waiting for you and your family. Many activities are offered on site, including canoe and kayak rentals. You can navigate the Petite Nation River. You can also enjoy the pool, water games, playground or mini-golf. The choice is yours! One thing's for sure: spend the day at the campground and finish it off around the fire with some marshmallows from Brasse-Camarade. This convenience store specializing in microbrewery beers will satisfy all the needs of the little ones with its impressive selection of sweets, but especially of the grown-ups, who will have the opportunity to make a few oral discoveries.
The next day, a visit to Parc national de Plaisance is planned. Kayaking and biking are on the agenda, as is a stroll along the Zizanie-des-marais trail, where you can walk directly through marshes via specially-designed footbridges. A trail on stilts has also recently been laid out.
On the way back, I recommend stopping off at Domaine Mangalica in Plaisance for a guided tour. You can meet Phil, the oldest woolly pig in the herd. Your children will surely be impressed to meet hairy pigs. Ferme Cabriole in Papineauville is another interesting suggestion. This ranch combines art and animals. There's plenty to be curious about! Why not make time for both visits?
The Centre touristique du Lac-Simon, with its 2 km beach, giant trampoline and play structures, should also be on your itinerary. You can also rent a cottage right on the beach. Your children will remember it for a long time.
The municipality of Lac-Simon has built a mini-golf course close to the Tourist Centre. You can play for a very reasonable price. Here's another activity to add to your itinerary!
Oh yes, I forgot to mention the Fairmont Château Montebello, with its Olympic-size indoor pool, mini-golf course, bike paths and more.
You really need more than one weekend to visit Petite Nation with your family!
When's your next visit?
