Inspiring nature, art, and gourmet pleasures
Namur offers nature in all its splendor. In the heart of the village, you will find Le jardin de la relève (The Garden of the Future), decorated with cabins created by six professional artists in 2013 under the theme My Cabin in Canada. This rejuvenating place will allow you to breathe in the fresh air. Not far away, Caracole Park will entertain your children.
Namur is a municipality with a population of 571, established in 1964 and founded around 1870 by a group of settlers from the city of Namur in Belgium. This town still maintains special ties with its sister city Namur in Belgium. As such, the Fêtes Namuroises are held in Quebec once every three years to bring together the two cultures, as well as that of Namur, Wisconsin, in the United States.
St. Paul's Church is closely linked to the history of the municipality, while the village's restaurants offer visitors a chance to indulge. For a gourmet break, the Koko Café is a must. Offering tasty sandwiches, fresh poké bowls, comforting coffees, and prepared meals, this small café is also the perfect place to enjoy a local craft beer. Just a stone's throw away, the Moulin du Temps, the village's oldest restaurant, offers an authentic culinary experience in a setting steeped in history. And of course, for accommodation and culture, there is Le Salon des Inconnus, a place where art, creativity, and hospitality come together. As an inn and arts center nestled in an 1898 Victorian home, Le Salon offers an immersive experience where visitors can reconnect with themselves, nature, and their creativity, and several events take place there.
Speaking of events: in addition to its natural charm and historical heritage, our village is full of little treasures waiting to be discovered. At the end of every summer, the Festival du Bûcheron visitors and locals alike to celebrate the region's forestry traditions. It's a festive occasion filled with competitions, craft demonstrations, and family activities that showcase Namur's cultural heritage.
