Ripon Trad 2025: a vibrant event at the heart of traditions

A diverse and inclusive program

The kickoff will take place on Thursday, September 11, in collaboration with the Symposium d’art in situ organized by the Centre d'action culturelle. This festive opening reception, in the form of a happy hour at the Coopérative Place du Marché showcase traditional music in a friendly atmosphere.

In the evening, the stage will light up with a breath of femininity with the vocal trio Chant d'Elles, the duo Archetype Trad and the eagerly awaited return of the group Lilas l’bon temps, for a first evening dedicated to the power of female voices.

On Friday, a major new addition to the program: La virée gourmande, a musical and gastronomic getaway to three bucolic locations in Ripon—Le Centre de vie, La Fille du boulanger Domaine Mont-Vézeau. From 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., participants will enjoy intimate musical moments with the groups Frères et Frack, Sam & Mila, and Cecilia, while sampling local products.

An unforgettable "East Wind" evening

On Friday evening, Ripon will host a colorful Soirée de l'Est (Eastern Evening). The party will begin in the public square with the group La Déferlance and their wild caledonic dance. This will be followed by performances under the big top by La Famille Leblanc, the legendary trio Vishtèn – recently reunited – and the festive group Quimorucru. Night owls will be treated to Les Filles du Roy, who will take to the stage at the Coopérative Place du Marché a late-night show.

Saturday: tradition, reunion, and celebration

Saturday promises to be a busy day with more than 35 acoustic concerts and workshops scattered throughout the village, including several in private or heritage locations. This is a unique opportunity to rediscover Ripon in a different light, in a warm and authentic atmosphere.

In the evening, the spotlight will be on a highlight: the eagerly awaited return of Arc-en-son, a true legend of traditional music in Petite Nation, alongside Nicolas Pellerin and Les Grands Hurleurs and Le Diable à Cinq, who will celebrate 10 years of international touring with an exclusive show.

Sunday: relaxation and a gentle end to the weekend

Sunday morning will be dedicated to families with a series of free activities on the main square. Then, to bring the festival to a spectacular close, there will be an indoor performance by the group D'accoutumée, featuring none other than Claude Méthé (co-founder of Le Rêve du Diable), will offer an intimate performance to end on a sweet and moving note.

A unique atmosphere, increasing visitor numbers

With a record 8,500 festival-goers expected, the event is growing in size while retaining its intimate and festive character. Rue Guay will be closed to traffic and brought to life by theEnsemble folklorique de la Gatineau and its traditional farandole, and scenographer Samuelle Desjardins is back to enhance the festival venues.

This sixth edition promises to be one of the most successful to date, offering nostalgic moments, artistic discoveries, celebrations of local talent, and intergenerational gatherings.
