Landscapes and valleys
Saint-Sixte extraordinary scenery, but the village suffered a severe blow in July 2015 when the chapel went up in smoke. The 469 residents, however, weren’t ready to give up. A new chapel has since been rebuilt, so people of all ages can now gather in this new space to reflect before heading out to play in the park, at the town’s baseball field, or simply strolling through the streets to admire the beautiful views.
The Company Gatineau Sled Dogs chose this location specifically for its wide-open spaces. Visitors can enjoy dog sled rides or experience various events—canicross, bikejoring, scooter, kart, sled, and skijoring—all in an enchanting setting.
Another must-see in Saint-Sixte the camp SAJO. Nestled in the heart of the forest, you can rent a cabin there to enjoy various activities such as hiking, water slides, canoeing, and cycling. There are even two water slides and a swimming pool.
Saint-Sixte in a small valley carved out by the Saint-Sixte River, a tributary of the Petite-Nation River. It is a small agricultural valley surrounded by rugged, rocky hills, including the Montagnes Noires to the north. The village landscape, with the nearby river and rocky outcrops, offers a peaceful setting that you absolutely must visit during your stay.
