Beginner Fishing in Montpellier
February 7, 2026
The City of Montpellier, in collaboration with the municipalities of Chénéville and Lac Simon, invites young and old alike to participate in “Pêche en herbe” at the Lac Croche recreational and tourist site. Starting at 8 a.m., come enjoy a fun-filled morning on the ice—the perfect opportunity to introduce kids to fishing or simply enjoy the outdoors with your family. A free lunch will be served on site—hot dogs, fries, and drinks—and door prizes will be drawn during the event. Good news for young anglers: free fishing licenses are available for children ages 6 to 17.

Ripon Carnival
February 13–15, 2026
On Friday, the “ Place du Marché ” comes alive with a special Carnival menu, followed by a performance by the Riponnais de service and a dance party. On Saturday, still at the market, the Carnival Market brings together local producers in a friendly atmosphere, featuring lunch from Bleu Café.
Then, head to the community center for a festive and community-building evening—admission is free. Starting at 4 p.m., the Carnival parade kicks off, followed at 5 p.m. by a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit the Papineau Social Pediatrics Center. At 7 p.m., enjoy a 110% tribute to Bob Bissonnette by Lemay and his crew, followed at 10 p.m. by Ripon Électrik, a spectacular sound-and-light finale. This part of the evening is recommended for adult audiences. Entertainment provided by DJ Arthur Adrien, in collaboration with Le Café des Orties.
On Sundays, activities take place at the Noires Parc des Montagnes . Visitors can enjoy free access to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and fat biking trails, as well as tubing, a large slide with transportation, and dog-sled rides. Equipment rentals are also available on site. To add a gourmet touch, an all-you-can-eat crêpe service, prepared by the town council, is offered throughout the day.
