A year-round journey through landscapes and panoramic views
In the summer, the best way to explore the Louis-Joseph-Papineau Trail is by bike, on a roughly 20-kilometer round-trip loop between Saint-André-Avellin and Saint-Sixte. Covered in rock dust, this linear trail—about 10 kilometers long—is accessible behind the Auberge Petite-Nation, at 35 Principale Street. Recommended for intermediate cyclists, it charms with its varied landscapes, sometimes wooded, sometimes opening up to fields and hills.
In winter, the landscape transforms: it’s time for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on a 25-kilometer network, thanks to the winter loops that enhance the trails. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and generally abundant snowfall, perfect for a refreshing outing in nature.
Two lookout points line the trail, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Whether you go there to push yourself or simply to take it all in, it’s a chance to experience the raw beauty of the Petite Nation.
Please note that the trail is closed in the Saint-Sixte area during big game hunting season.
Open year-round. In winter, depending on trail conditions.
