Louis-Joseph-Papineau Trail
Activities
A four-season journey through landscapes and panoramic views
In the summer, the best way to explore the Louis-Joseph-Papineau Trail is by bike, on a round-trip loop of about 20 km between Saint-André-Avellin and Saint-Sixte. Covered in rock dust, this linear trail—about 10 kilometers long—is accessible behind the Auberge Petite-Nation, at 35 Principale Street. Recommended for intermediate cyclists, it charms with its varied landscapes, sometimes wooded, sometimes opening up to fields and hills.
In winter, the landscape transforms: it’s time for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on a 25-km network, thanks to the winter loops that enhance the trail. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and generally abundant snowfall—perfect for an invigorating outing in nature.
Two lookout points line the trail, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Whether you go there to push yourself or simply to take it all in, it’s a chance to experience the raw beauty of the Petite Nation.
Please note that the trail is closed in the Saint-Sixte area Saint-Sixte big game hunting season.
Open year-round. In winter, depending on trail conditions.
