A spectacular natural setting

The park covers more than 680 hectares of unspoiled nature: ancient Laurentian forests, mountains, cliffs, lakes, streams, waterfalls, and even a few hidden caves. It’s a place where every trail leads to a surprise, every season reveals a new side, and every view makes you fall in love with the area.

Thanks to its remarkable biodiversity and the raw beauty of its landscapes, the park stands out as much for its tranquility as for the richness of its environment. Several natural lookout points offer breathtaking views of the Escalier Reservoir, the La Lièvre River, Lakes Desjardins, Brochet, and Truite, as well as the agricultural area of Bowman and the Petite Nation Mountains.

Trails accessible to everyone

With 9 km of marked hiking trails, Parc régional de la forêt welcomes both novice hikers and seasoned walkers. In winter, these same trails become magnificent snowshoe trails, allowing visitors to enjoy the forest under its blanket of snow.

Two heated rest stops (the Chêne and the Cèdre) offer a well-deserved break in the winter, gathered around a wood-burning stove. In the summer, they become perfect spots for an outdoor picnic. Outdoor facilities are provided to allow for controlled fires in a safe environment.

Climbing for all skill levels

The park is also a premier rock-climbing destination in the Outaouais region. Thanks to the collaboration of the Quebec Mountain and Climbing Federation (FQME), more than 40 climbing routes have been established on the Panorama Wall, an impressive southeast-facing rock formation well sheltered by a mature forest.

The routes, with an average height of 25 meters, are suitable for both beginners and more experienced climbers. The practice wall, flat footholds, and variety of holds (cracks, slabs, vertical sections) make this site a safe and challenging place, even for families with young children. And for those looking to take it further, theOutaouais Climbing School can provide lessons and guidance right on site.

A modern and eco-friendly visitor center

Recently opened, the park’s visitor center is a real asset. Located near Lac du Brochet, this modern, eco-friendly, and welcoming building is managed by the park’s board of directors, in collaboration with the municipality of Bowman.

It features a multipurpose room that can accommodate up to 63 people, a large terrace overlooking the lake, and a tourist information desk. Whether you’re planning a day of activities or a small event, the pavilion is the ideal starting point for a comfortable and informative visit.

A Walk on the Water

Want to switch things up? The park has two fully equipped docks on Lac du Brochet and Lac de la Truite, perfect for canoeing, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding. These docks also offer opportunities for wildlife viewing and relaxation by the water. Two more docks are planned for Lac Desjardins and Lac Cook, to further enhance the water sports offerings.

A nature destination to experience to the fullest

In Petite Nation, getaways take on a whole new meaning. Parc régional de la forêt invites you to slow down, explore, and reconnect with what truly matters. Whether you’re a hiker, a rock climber, a nature lover, or simply seeking peace and quiet, you’ll find a unique place here where every visit leaves a lasting impression.

You'll be sent packing at Bowman, but you'll want to come back again and again!
