Kîsisam, “she who bakes with fire”
It’s much more than just a café and boutique: it’s a vibrant place where Indigenous culture comes to life in every bite, every sip, and every encounter. Nestled in the heart of Saint-André-Avellin, this welcoming space invites you to discover the world of Neu Uasstessiu Nipish—“the woman of the four colors offall —and her art of blending culinary traditions with modern northern inspirations.
The café-bistro area has recently been expanded to offer 20 seats, perfect for team meetings, coworking, or well-deserved breaks for cyclists, families, and seniors. A sunny, air-conditioned space near the windows lets you enjoy the moment in peace and quiet.
Kîsisam offers high-quality barista-made coffee, with a portion of the proceeds going toward supporting access to clean drinking water in Indigenous communities. Enjoy an espresso, a shikuteu (chicoutai) latte, a cappuccino with traditional flavors, or an Algonquin herbal tea. Homemade sparkling drinks made with spruce or rose syrup round out the refreshing menu.
The newly renovated store showcases products from Indigenous businesses (Khewa, Épices du guerrier, Native Northwest, Oscardo, and others), local artisans, and suppliers of boreal ingredients (Forêt et papilles, Jardins des érables, Maison de la chicouté, and others).
New offerings: catering services for events, a refrigerated display case featuring individual Indigenous pastries, and small, custom workshops. Don’t miss the croissants filled with bison, smoked salmon, or wild mushrooms, the Three Sisters soup served with bannock, or the takeout platters.
Kîsisam is an unforgettable culinary and cultural experience. We invite you to take a stroll… and savor the essence of the region.
