Özgen Eryasa
Description
Graduated in engineering physics, Özgen Eryaşa explores music, poetry, weaving, photography, painting and finally woodcarving which he will deepen during about fifteen years.
He discovered the stone in 2005; it’s love at first sight. He then follows a series of courses that will allow him to develop a very personal style integrating his scientific training, his sensuality, his passion for music and mathematics, his sense of humor and his poetry, in abstract forms which characterize his recent creations. In 2008 he began to exhibit his works on stone.
In 2009, he saw the confirmation of his career as a sculptor: recognition in St-Basile-Le-Grand, first prize in La Prairie, he was recruited by the Creators of the Petite Nation, a collective of artists and artisans from the ‘Outaouais who open their workshops to visitors all year round. He won honors at the last four exhibitions in which he participated in 2010. In early 2011, at the request of many interested parties, he set up a series of workshops and began teaching stone carving.
