A fantastic online exhibition about the region
New life for the parCOURS d'EAU exhibition
Patrimoine Papineau and Cinémanima inc. are proud to announce the online availability, as of today, of the video vignettes that were an essential part of the most recent permanent exhibition at the Plaisance Heritage Interpretation Centre: parCOURS d'EAU - Récits des rivières de la Petite Nation et de la Lièvre.
"There was no way that this wonderful exhibition on the geological adventure, the challenge of settlement and the development of the Petite Nation and Lièvre valleys would not be followed up," says Luc Galarneau, President of Patrimoine Papineau. "With these 79 videos, we invite the public to celebrate the history and heritage of our region, in a vibrant tribute to daily life from yesterday to today."
Nicole Catellier, CEO of Cinémanima inc. who conceived, directed and holds the copyright for the exhibition, is delighted to see this rich historical and ethnographic collection given a new lease of life. "It was heartwarming to see over a hundred passionate witnesses talking about their lives and the magnificent Papineau region," she says. "Revising and reformatting all these vignettes for online publication was a major undertaking. It was essential that these testimonials, which recount the emergence and resilience of a strong and proud community, continue to be shared with as many people as possible."
The parcoursdeau.com website, which hosts the vignettes, was designed by Jean-Luc Denat of JLDesign.ca.
This Patrimoine Papineau project was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Fonds culturel de la MRC de Papineau, the Municipalité de Plaisance, the Réseau du patrimoine de Gatineau et de l'Outaouais (RPGO), Cinémanima inc. and JLDesign.ca.
