For almost two months, the human presence in Parc national de Plaisance dropped sharply. With confinement, wild animals reclaimed their natural habitat.
A female Killdeer nested in the parking lot of the Desjardins picnic area before the reopening of Parc national de Plaisance. One of the small migratory birds, protected under the Migratory Birds Convention Act, laid four eggs. As soon as the park opened, a protected area was created for the female to incubate her eggs.
"The few times we went into the park during the closure, we really saw a lot of birds and species that we know are in the park, but see a lot less," says Director Isabelle Croteau.
