Local beers for summer
Claudia Blais-Thompson -
It's hot and sunny. The need to refresh and quench one's thirst is great during the summer months. Frédéric Joly, co-owner of Le Brasse-Camarade, a convenience store specializing in microbrewery beers, presents three projects showcasing local beer.
A collaboration between Le Brasse-Camarade, Les Brasseurs de Montebello, the Comité du Musée des Pionniers, the Société historique de Saint-André-Avellin, the municipality of Saint-André-Avellin and cartoonist Christian Quesnel, will see the rebuilding of the Ange de la Rivière. This white beer with a light citrus taste should be available in mid-July. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the beer will go towards the restoration of this angel, which has watched over Saint-André-Avellin for almost 100 years.
"The original work was made of wood. With time and flooding, it rotted. It's currently at the Musée des Pionniers. We want to make a lasting reproduction and bring it back to the same spot on the river," says Mr. Joly.
