350th anniversary of the Seigneurie de la Petite-Nation

In 2024, the MRC de Papineau will be celebrating the 350th anniversary of the Seigneurie de la Petite-Nation.

To mark this important historic moment, events will be held throughout the year, all over the MRC territory, with the participation of several municipalities, organizations and festivals, supported by the MRC de Papineau.

"As you can see, the community has mobilized to organize a colorful 350th anniversary. We're counting on you to be part of these celebrations by taking part in planned activities, inviting family and friends to visit and take part in activities with you, getting involved as a volunteer, or organizing a special event or activity to blow out these 350 candles. Be part of those who will mark this great history and guide its future!"

History in the making

Dive into the region's rich past this summer! Marie Josée Bourgeois and Marthe Lemery bring you 24 fascinating historical vignettes. From the first French tourist, to the Wekarinis, to our talented "gosseux", each story reveals a unique part of our heritage. Our 25 municipalities

An ambitious project. 25 municipalities. Six days of filming and a snowstorm later, over 1,500 kilometers were covered to bring Petite Nation to life. From Fassett to Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, from Thurso to Boileau. The idea is not to faithfully depict the soul of each municipality, but to offer a brief glimpse of the traces of the past, a quick glance at the present and a wink towards the future. Heritage buildings, businesses and institutions that shape our communities, all set against a bucolic spring landscape not yet free of ice. Open your eyes and let yourself be carried away.

A pinch of history at tea time at St. Matthew's Presbytery

Saturday, August 10, 1 to 4 p.m.
643 Inlet Road, Mulgrave-et-Derry

Tour and tasting. Visit the historic house inhabited by Lutheran pastors and their families until 1949! Discover the history of this small community north of Buckingham, founded by settlers of German, Irish and French-Canadian origin. Relive the lives of pioneer families thanks to an exhibition of artifacts and old photos.
Sweet treats and local history on the menu!
